An Independent Councillor In Ballycastle has welcomed the completion of the Town Partnership’s latest project, stage one of the Heritage Trail.
The Trail begins at the Marine Corner and and goes along the Toe River Path before emerging on Quay Road and continues through the seaside resort, finishing at Leyland Road.
A leaflet with a suggested route will be available in most local stores soon that will take you on a journey through Ballycastle’s rich natural and built heritage.
Councillor Mc Shane who is a Council representitive on the Partnership stated;
“The Gateway Sculptures were the Ballycastle Town Partnership’s first project welcoming people to the town and introducing the visitor and local alike to our culture and heritage, music and legends, maritime and industrial heritage, and our many historic buildings. The Trail is an extension of the Gateways and the Partnership hope the Trail will, “Help you understand what has made Ballycastle unique and encourage you to explore and discover more for yourself.”

“In addition a Virtural Trail Guide has just gone live. A smart phone with a QR reader will allow an enhanced experience as additional audio and video have been created for the journey. http://www.moyle-council.org/ballycastletowntrail/
The Councillor has encouraged as many people as possible to try the Heritage Trail and in finishing stated;
“I must pay tribute to the volunteers who make up the Partnership. They have dedicated themselves to several successful projects that have enhanced Ballycastle. In addition, the same volunteers have committed themselves to a stage two of the trails and the hope of continuing the project along the Toe river exiting at Fairhill Street and linking with the forest”.
