Butchers Apron for Sheskburn House Ballycastle

Unionism in all its forms, in Coleraine are set to propose flying the union flag on some buildings 365 days of the year. Included in the proposal is the desire to fly a flag from Sheskburn House in Ballycastle, riding rough shot over a 42 year policy of ‘no flags’ while Nationalist/Republicans held the majority.

With this motion Unionism confirms that it is the most pathetic of all political nostalgias. While governance should be for the more enlightened, local government is full or ‘corner boys’ who only know bigotry before economic development or the enhancement of life-chances.

In Unionism’s moral contentment, they enjoy an ease of conscience and the oafishness of a thug which together allows them to jack boot decisions to hurt others. To fly a flag in Ballycastle, a seat of governance that chose to fly no flags while it held a Nationalist/Republican majority for 42 years, will cause considerable hurt and pain to those who continued to put community relations first in the former District of Moyle.

As residents begin to learn of this proposal the anger and resentment is palpable here. But residents are also aware and take comfort in the fact that political Unionism aspires to nothing beyond the momentary consolations that this type of bigotry can offer.

It is a matter of insecurity attached to an identity crisis, the bastardy offspring of the Empire, as a Freudian interpration may have observed of the child (Ulster Unionism) longing for the family (Britain) who had already rejected it and become embarrassed by its every word and deed……… It’s now time to laugh at the bastard.

My efforts will remain focussed on realising the potential of both on and offshore renewables and enhancing the tourism product to increase financial growth and job creation, Coupled with support for small indigenous businesses.

I will also be working with others in the chamber to oppose this open display of hostility to the minority community in the Causeway Coast and Glens.

PSNI Handling UDA In North Antrim & Coleraine

image1The PSNI, when challenged by the Irish News last week, refused to confirm or deny UDA involvement in two shootings in North Antrim the previous week after I informed the paper who was behind the attacks. They also refused to confirm UDA involvement to the Irish News regarding the murder of Brian McIlhagga who was viciously beaten and shot by the UDA in Ballymoney.Flag_of_the_Ulster_Defence_Association.svg 6a00d8341c500653ef00e54f30e5248834-800wiInstead they pre-empted the publication of the story by the Irish News, releasing their own statement on Wednesday evening claiming they suspected UDA involvement in the attacks. The PR stunt by the PSNI was to stave off accusations of collusion with senior members of the Security Services and the UDA.

Brian McIlhagga had his name attacked even in death. Suggestions of a drug dispute after PSNI briefed a beneficial and sympathetic publication on Sunday was to have the public conclude, sure its only a drug dealer. But the facts; Mr. McIlhagga stood up to support a female after abuse, insults etc were directed at her by a local UDA thug in Ballymoney. _80088972_brianmcillhaggaFor his actions, McIlhagga was beaten and shot. It was believed the beating was so severe it was that rather than the shooting which ended his life.

Many of you have asked me to publish the article that appeared in this weeks Irish News. Included is the opinion of the Irish News themselves. Click on the images for greater size and quality! I make the claim on the basis of the number of attacks carried out by the UDA, number of arrests, number of charges & number of convictions of UDA – NONE. I make the claim on the basis of information being passed to me by a source close to the heart of the UDA ( that information has proved accurate to a T) and I also make the claim as rank and file members of the PSNI locally, when challenged, say they are not allowed to intervene in certain types of crime committed by the UDA.

If we are serious about smashing the UDA murder gangs operating in North Antrim and Coleraine, it is essential we expose the links that sustain them.
